About A-M

I A-M Anne-Marie

When I was setting up my own business, I umm’d and ahh’d for a  while on what to call it. I went with the imaginative and catchy ‘Anne-Marie Burbidge, Learning & Development Consultant and Coach’. It’s fine if you are wondering why it took me a while to come up with that! But that’s my style; straightforward, clear, open.

What I do

For me, it’s always been about people.

Ensuring people have the knowledge and skills they need to be able to handle business challenges, and be great at work.

Sometimes this means developing practical skills like presenting with impact or managing time, other times it is more personal than that, perhaps confidence, imposter syndrome, or resilience which is impacting on your work. Other times it’s a bit of a mix.

My approach works because I’m a blend of training, coaching, facilitation and project management skills. I can tailor my work to suit you (and draft in some other specialists if that’s what you need). I work along a spectrum, with training and advising at one end, and coaching at the other. I move up and down depending on what is required.

How I got here

My background has taken me from temporary recruitment of truck drivers in Lancashire, to training 350 volunteers at an event at Buckingham Palace, and all sorts of things in between!

My last employed role was as Learning and Development Manager for The Royal Household, where I worked for 13 years. Family, travel, childcare and all that game changing stuff meant I had the opportunity to set up my own business doing something I’m passionate about.

I’ve worked with a wide variety of people including auditors, helicopter pilots, housekeepers, retail assistants, senior leaders, IT consultants, axe keepers (really), PA’s and marketeers (to name a few).

I’ve delivered training, coached teams and individuals, designed team building events, overseen policy and procedure development/training, designed on-boarding/inductions, been responsible for performance management processes, completed learning needs analysis, and been the keeper of a box of tissues when someone is underperforming or under pressure and needs support.

Along the way I’ve attended events and training to develop myself. I’m a post graduate trained personal and business Coach, picked up CIPD qualifications, Belbin team roles accreditation, TotalSDI strengths based assessment and The Bird Table group coach accreditation. I’m also an approved Chartered Management Institute lecturer and assessor. I have a background in recruitment, generalist HR and finally a specialism in Learning & Development.

And I bring all of that together, to provide a flexible service. My role is to understand where a client is now, articulate where they want to be, and to recommend or provide solutions to bridge the gap between the two.

I hope that helps you understand me a bit more, now shall we chat about you?
